EAST LANSING, MI — Steam and hot water services remain impacted and will take additional time to be fully restored on campus at Michigan State University following last Saturday’s power outage.
Just over half the buildings on campus, including the dorms, have seen their hot water and steam services, which are needed for heat restored. MSU says campus includes over 19 million gross square feet of building space and 16 miles of steam tunnels.
Meanwhile, mobile shower units are available at Brody Neighborhood and West Circle, according to the school. An Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible shower option is also available at West Circle. The Student Recreation and Wellness Center has 32 showers, 10 of which are all-gender. Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) will continue to offer transportation to and from the Hannah Community Center for showers.
