LANSING, MI — If you have leftover 4th of July fireworks, state officials say don’t use them up this week. Michigan’s fireworks ordinance allowing residents to use fireworks has expired.
Those caught using residential fireworks this week face fines of up to $1,000. The City of Lansing says it is clearing city parks of fireworks debris leftover from the weekend.
The next time Michigan residents can legally use fireworks is later this summer over Labor Day weekend, according to the state ordinance.
