LANSING, MI — The City of Lansing paid $32.4 million in overtime from 2020 through 2024, according to a report in the Lansing State Journal, with the annual cost increasing each year.
A full three-fourths of the OT pay went to employees in the police and fire departments, according to a LSJ analysis of city data.
The public works department also racked up lots of OT over the six-year period, averaging $1.1 million annually compared to the $2 million average for the police and fire departments.
