LANSING, MI — An Eaton County woman found out she won a $150,000 Powerball prize when she logged into her Michigan Lottery account and “saw a whole bunch of numbers!”
Kaci Powers, of Charlotte, matched four white balls and the Powerball – 23-40-49-65-69 PB: 23 – in the Aug. 16 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $150,000. She bought her winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com. Charlotte is about 20 miles southwest of Lansing.
“I saw on a commercial that the Powerball jackpot was over $500 million, and I didn’t feel like going to the store, so I bought a ticket online,” said Powers. “When I logged into my Lottery account the next day, I saw a whole bunch of numbers on the prize notification that popped up! At first, I was confused and then when I realized I’d won $150,000, I went into shock!”
Powers, 51, visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to take a family vacation and then save the remainder.
FYI, the Powerball jackpot is huge for the drawing Saturday night. It’s expected to top $950 million.
