BATH, MI — One person is dead after a standoff in Clinton County. Bath Township Police said the incident began Tuesday morning after they were called to a home for a welfare check on Clark Road.
Police say repeated attempts were made to communicate with a person, but were unsuccessful. Officers on the scene reported hearing gunshots coming from the residence. The Clinton County Special Operations Team was deployed due to the potential danger for the responding officers and nearby public, police said.
Tuesday afternoon a large fire erupted in a barn on the property. Due to the danger involved, a Michigan State Police tactical fire vehicle put out the flames. The structure was destroyed and a body discovered inside, according to police. The person has not been identified.
