EAST LANSING, MI — Attorney General Dana Nessel will not charge East Lansing police officers for a shooting at the Meijer on Lake Lansing Road store in April that left the suspect injured.
Nessel said it was clear that Deanthony Vanatten, whio has since recovered from his wounds, had a loaded weapon as he ran from four officers in the parking lot of the store in north Lansing. Vanatten has been charged with a handful of felonies related to the incident.
East Lansing Police officers Jim Menser and Jose Viera will go back on the job in the next few days, according to Nessel. The pair had been on paid leave since the shooting.
