Obama administration chooses southeast Michigan for stimulus

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Southeast Michigan is being picked by the Obama Administration as one of the first 12 regions in the country to be designated as a "manufacturing community." The "Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership" was launched last fall, and is designed to take federal dollars to help spur manufacturing jobs and private investments.

The Michigan counties that are included in the consortium are Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Ingham, Lapeer, Livingtson, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Shiawassee, Washtenaw, and Wayne. More than 70 regions applied to be part of the first group of twelve, which will have access to close to 1.3-billion dollars in federal dollars.
