Michigan State University researchers have found evidence the destructive emerald ash borer has been in North America for at least ten years longer than believed.  The pest was first discovered in 2002.  MSU scientists collected the cores of over one-thousand ash trees from six counties in the state and found the bug first arrived in the early 1990s.  The research is published in the current issue of the journal Diversity and Distributions.
