DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors CEO Marry Barra will testify before Congress next month about the automakers recall of over 1.6-million vehicles.

The company issued the recall because of problems with ignition switches that have been linked to twelve deaths and 31 crashes. Barra will testify at an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing on April 1st.

The Justice Department and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are also investigating the defects and whether or not the recall was issued in a timely manner.
