Prince Harry 's first-ever Invictus Games are shaping up to be rock-heavy. It was previously reported that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had agreed to write and perform the opening anthem for the Games, which are a sports competition for wounded military service personnel. Now Foo Fighters have signed on to be the event's closer.
In a statement on the Invictus Games site , the band says, " Invictus games, look out...THE FOO FIGHTERS ARE COMING. What a perfect way to finally return to the UK for the first time in years...been waaaay too long! Thanks for having us, it is truly an honor to come play for these incredible men and women. Can't wait to do our thing for you."
The closing concert -- to be held on September 14, at the end of the four-day games -- will take place on the South Lawn of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, in a space that can accommodate 26,000 fans. Also on the bill are Kaiser Chiefs , Ryan Adams , The Vamps , and James Blunt , among others.
