LANSING (WKZO) -- Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville is calling on Governor Snyder to cancel the contract with Aramark to provide food services at state prisons and reopen the bidding. The Monroe Republican said during a taping of the public television show "Off the Record" that if you went to a restaurant where there were maggots in the food, you wouldn't go back.

Maggots have been found in the kitchens of two prisons in the past month in Michigan, and unions are also pressuring the governor to reverse the privatization of the food service and put state employees back into those jobs. Maggots have also been found in prisons in Ohio where Aramark runs food service.
