LANSING, MI (WTVB) -The registration process for those on Michigan’s sex offender list is now underway. The Michigan State Police says all Tier 1 registered sex offenders must report to their local law enforcement agency in person before January 15th. Tier 2 offenders are required to report in the first 15 days of January and July each year while Tier 3 offenders have to report quarterly. If a person on the registry fails to do so they could face up to two years in prison. Those in violation of the law can be taken into custody during a traffic stop or during any other contact with authorities.
