ANN ARBOR (WKZO) -- The Black Student Union at the University of Michigan is amplifying its call for an increase in minority enrollment at the school.  The United Coalition for Racial Justice hosted what was described as a speak out at the Ann Arbor campus overnight, with support from students and academic departments at the university.

Black Student Union Vice Speaker Tyerll Collier says the organization put forward seven issues last month which require more action and Tuesday night's event was designed to keep the pressure on the university to meet their demands.  The Black Student Union wants an increase in black representation at U of M to ten-percent of the student body, and has won commitments to increase access to affordable housing and renovations to the school's cultural center.
