Governor Snyder examines flood damage

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Governor Snyder is urging metro Detroit residents to be patient as the flood waters recede and repairs are made to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

The governor toured the flood-ravaged Motor City by helicopter Tuesday after cutting short a campaign trip in the Upper Peninsula. His office has put out a list of safety reminders for floods, including not driving on flooded roads, as just six inches can cause you to lose control and two feet of water can sweep away a vehicle.

Other reminders are to avoid contact with the flood waters, report and avoid all downed power lines, turn off all utilities and disconnect electrical equipment if one's home is flooded and be careful in areas that were once flooded.
