Naval Yard shooting investigation continues, flags at half-mast through Friday

WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) - Flags at the U.S. Capitol and here in Michigan will be flown at half staff until sunset on Friday to honor those killed in the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.  The death toll in Monday's shooting is currently at 13, including the shooter.

Authorities are still trying to put together all the pieces, but so far they are confirming that the Texas man believed to have caused the carnage had a criminal past. 34-year-old Aaron Alexis was arrested in 2010 by Fort Worth police for firing a weapon within city limits. In addition, Seattle police say Alexis was arrested in 2004 for shooting the tires of another man's vehicle. The Navy says Alexis received a general discharge from the Navy Reserve in 2011 due to misconduct issues. The initial reports suggested there were two gunmen, but they no longer believe that was the case.
