Before Metallica Through the Never hits theaters across the country, Metallica will host a special screening of the 3D flick in their hometown. The band has just announced that they’ll show the film on September 17 at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA, which will kick off the 36th annual Mill Valley Film Festival.

“We’ll all be on hand for a post screening interview and audience Q&A with the founder of the festival and Executive Director of the California Film Institute, Mark Fishkin ,” writes the band in a joint statement . “We hope you can join us to watch the film, hang out, and talk about Through The Never . This screening is a benefit for the nonprofit California Film Institute, which celebrates and promotes film as art and education through the presentation of the Mill Valley Film Festival and year-round exhibitions at this theater.”

Tickets for the Metallica Through the Never screening will run you $85 each, and are currently available at MVFF.com . If you miss out on being able to attend the event, you’ll be able to catch the movie when it arrives at every IMAX theater across North America for a full week starting September 27.  After the flick ends its run in the IMAX theaters, it'll expand into additional theaters starting October 4.
