LANSING (WKZO) -- Republicans are firing back at Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer for being critical of Governor Rick Snyder's nonprofit fund called the NERD fund.
Snyder kept the names of donors private and Schauer has repeatedly called for "transparency" in government. However, Schauer had a similar fund when he was in the state legislature between 1999 through 2010. He says his fund never came close to raising the money Snyder has with his nonprofit but he did not keep complete records to disclose who donated the Schauer Community Fund.
The governor recently announced he will be dissolving his nonprofit after the first of the year.
