(WKZO) -- The Michigan State Police will remain in full force this Thanksgiving weekend.
Patrols will be boosted through midnight on Sunday.
To help troopers keep the roads safe, Sgt. Jill Bennet says check your vehicle before travel.
Make sure your tire pressures are at recommended levels, your windshield washers are filled with winter grade liquid and you have an emergency kit in your vehicle.
The increased patrols also mean increased attention to hazardous drivers. Troopers will take a zero tolerance approach this weekend to drunken driving and be watching for seat belt scofflaws.
The office of Highway Safety Planning decided not to fund overtime for additional patrols because the weather usually keeps police agencies busy.
