LANSING (WKZO) -- Two northern Michigan state lawmakers are among those encouraging people to shop local and patronize small businesses Saturday. Representative Greg MacMaster of Kewadin in Antrim County believes it's the best way to say "thank you" to the businesses that have survived the recession.
Representative Wayne Schmidt of Traverse City is a former store manager and believes retailers in his part of the state will have a strong holiday season. He believes if people head to the locally-owned stores along with national chains, everyone will win.
Saturday is being touted as Small Business Saturday across the state.
