Two sentenced in Michigan credit repair scam

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Two former business partners from Michigan are headed to prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges.  Bernie Pavone is sentenced to 48- months and Abood Samaan will be locked up for 12-months and one day. They are also ordered to pay 554-thousand dollars to the Federal Trade Commission.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office the scheme to defraud was executed throughout the United States and involved the sale of a credit repair service by ICR Services, a multi-level marketing  company owned by Pavone and managed with Samaan's help.  Pavone and Samaan falsely claimed to have a "proprietary software" program, often called "the magic disk," which could erase negative and derogatory information from consumer credit reports. Relying on the false promise, over 180-thousand consumers paid for the worthless product which brought over 50-million dollars into ICR.
