Attorney General Schuette says no to run for US Senate

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan Republicans are still searching for a candidate to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Carl Levin.  Attorney General Bill Schuette says it's not for him, though. Schuette, a former congressman and director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, says he plans to run for reelection in 2014.

Congressman Mike Rogers from the Lansing area has polled as a favorite to run for the seat as a Republican, but it had been believed he was in the running to take a job as the new director of the FBI.  That could change as it's now believed President Obama will ask former senior Justice Department official James Comey to take the job
