DETROIT (WKZO) -- For a while there, it was hard to get a burger in Detroit.

Hundreds of fast-food workers left their spatulas and their french fry baskets behind and hit the picket line while demanding higher wages, forcing several McDonalds, Burger King, and Subways to shut their doors.

They are demanding that their near minimum wage salaries be doubled to roughly 15 dollars per hour.

Similar protests by fast-food workers have already occured in New York, Chicago and St. Louis.
