Pontiac Schools could miss payroll

PONTIAC (WKZO) -- A recent report released by the state shows the Pontiac School District is in danger of missing its payroll.

The findings of a preliminary financial review were detailed in a report from state Superintendent Mike Flanagan to school board president Carroll Turpin and Superintendent Brian Dougherty.  Flanagan wrote that the district has made unsatisfactory progress in eliminating its deficit and because of this, the district was given an advance from Oakland Schools to meet its May 3rd payroll.

Officials say there are no further funds that can be advanced to meet the district's May 17th payroll obligation.  Because the district does not have an approved deficit-elimination plan, the state has been withholding aid payments.
