COVERT TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Another leaky tank at the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert Township has forced the reactor to shut down.
The safety injection /refueling water tank apparently had been leaking for a while, and finally reached the stage when it exceeded safety limits. That’s 38-gallons a day.
Victoria Mitlyng with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says their resident inspectors will be carefully monitoring the effort to make repairs.
The reactor will remain off-line until the repairs are completed.
