LANSING, MI (WKZO) - MIRS news is reporting that Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has asked the Michigan Court of Appeals to begin a grand jury probe of the Fungal Meningitis outbreak in Michigan.
Hundreds have become ill and 17 Michiganders killed by the tainted steroid injections manufactured by the New England Compounding Center.
A grand jury can do what even Congress was unable to do, and that’s to compel the operators of the compounding lab to testify. The owner just pled the fifth amendment when called to testify to a congressional committee.
Schuette would like to call jurors from the four counties where the shots were distributed. It will be up to the Court of Appeals to actually empanel the grand jury.
