LANSING (WKZO) -- State workers face potential layoffs as the result of massive federal cuts.

Due to cuts mandated by the federal sequester, roughly eight-thousand defense industry workers could lose their jobs.  As a result of the sequester, Michigan stands to lose up to 150-million dollars.  Earlier this month, the Office of the State Employer sent notices to all department and agency directors letting them know that layoffs may be on the way.

The layoffs, if they occur, would begin in April.
