LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has sent out a notice saying that, as a direct result of federal budget sequestration, Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits will be cut by 10.7-percent.
The program provides up to 34 weeks of unemployment benefits for those who have already exhausted their regular state benefits. The cuts will go into effect for those trying to claim the additional benefits starting on or after March 31st.
The department will be notifying recipients by mail ahead of the change. Anyone seeking additional information can contact an Unemployment Insurance Agency office, or go online to Michigan.gov/UIA.
