DETROIT (WKZO) -- Tuition costs in Michigan are among the highest in the nation.

According to a report released by the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association on Wednesday, tuition costs for public colleges and universities are at a record high while state funding is at its lowest level in nearly 25-years.  Compared with the rest of the nation, Michigan is at the extreme at both ends, with tuition costs above the national average and state support among the lowest.

Officials say Michigan's struggling economy plays a role in the high costs and low funding.
