KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- There is more good economic news locally.
Dr. Brian Long is out with his monthly survey of business activity in the West Michigan manufacturing sector, and after a couple of months of lackluster performance he says things have begun to pick up again on the area’s factory floors.
He says almost all the companies that he surveys for the Institute for Supply Management saw their indicators increase in February.
He says New Orders, the Production Index and the Employment Index all jumped by double digit figures last month.
He says the comments provided by the respondents at the end of the report were also more optimistic for the most part.
He says it’s the auto industry that drives the fortunes of Michigan and right now that may be the best news of all. The auto industry’s sales continue to climb.
Dr. Long tells us the darkest cloud on the economic horizon is the continuing fight over the budget in Washington.
