LANSING (WKZO) -- Documents filed last week in Lansing reveal why the Michigan State Police locked down the Capitol building during the debate over the right to work law.  Thousands of demonstrators packed into the Capitol to protest.

Michigan State Police Captain Kevin McGaffigan wrote in a statement that he was concerned about public safety.  He felt some people may be trampled or fall over the railing in the Capitol rotunda.

A lawsuit was filed by Democrats, labor unions and other groups charging the move violated the state's Open Meetings Act.
