LANSING (WKZO) -- The state House of Representatives will likely not act on a bill to protect the Detroit Institute of Arts collection until the fall.

While the state Senate has fast-tracked a bill to protect the DIA’s works from possibly being sold if the city of Detroit was to declare bankruptcy, the House has no plans to act.  According to Ari Adler, a spokesperson for House Speaker Jase Bolger, the House has no plans to take up the bill before members leave for a two-month summer break later this month.

The bill passed through a Senate committee on Tuesday and is expected to be voted on by the full Senate next week.
