DETROIT (WKZO) -- Syphilis cases are on the rise in Detroit. City and state health officials are launching a campaign alerting the public about the sexually transmitted disease they say is making a comeback.
According to officials, on average, roughly 100 cases of the disease are reported each year in Detroit. Last year that number jumped to 123 and, as of May 31st of this year, 82 cases have been reported.
Officials say they’re seeing the sexually transmitted disease more in adolescents and young adults.
