Michigan Senate committee to decide on Medicaid in two weeks

LANSING (WKZO) -- A state Senate committee will meet on either July 17th or 18th to discuss Medicaid expansion.

Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said the Senate Government Operations Committee will decide at that time if the workgroup looking for a new version of Medicaid expansion has come up with something that can be formally introduced.  The House passed Governor Snyder's Healthy Michigan plan in June, but the Senate adjourned for the summer without a vote.

The governor says his plan would add nearly a half-million uninsured Michigan residents to Medicaid, giving them needed healthcare coverage.
