DETROIT (WKZO) -- The number of people sickened by a salmonella outbreak linked to tainted beef sold in two Michigan businesses has now reached 16.  That's according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

A total of seven of the victims ate raw kibbeh at the same restaurant before getting sick.  Approximately 500 pounds of ground beef products were traced to a Sterling Heights meat market which was then sold area restaurants and directly to consumers.

A recall of the beef has been issued and more information can be found online at Michigan.gov/food safety.
