DETROIT (WKZO) -- A new study shows that roughly 60-percent of children in Detroit live in poverty.
According to findings released by Data Driven Detroit, close to six-in-ten children live in poverty, a 65-percent increase in just over the last decade. The study shows that the poverty rate between 1999 and 2011 exceeded the poverty rate during the recession of the early 1980's.
The study is in its second year and is designed to shed light on issues affecting Detroit children.
