The Red Wings dropped their home opener to the Dallas Stars 2-1 last night at Joe Louis Arena. Dallas scored in the first period and again in the third, with the Wings lone goal coming from rookie Damien Brunner with four seconds left in the game. Jimmy Howard made 30 saves in the losing effort.
