LANSING (WKZO) -- Three bills expanding the rights of gun owners in Michigan were passed by the Senate Judiciary committee in Lansing.

The first bill would exempt Michigan-made guns from federal regulations that are being considered in Washington.  It passed on a vote of three to one with State Senator Steve Bieda of Warren opposing the bill.  He said it would likely be challenged on constitutional grounds.

The Senate panel also approved a measure to exempt gun licensing and registration information from the Freedom of Information Act and exempt licensing requirements for some federal firearms sellers.
