18th-ranked Michigan State beat Penn State 81-72 on the road last night.  Adreian Payne led the Spartans with 20 points, Gary Harris added 14 points and Keith Appling and Derrick Nix each contributed 12.  Payne and teammate Branden Dawson were both benched for the first half after apparently getting into a fight at the team's hotel before the game.
