LANSING (WKZO) -- Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero says new gun control laws are needed nationwide to prevent a repeat of the Connecticut school shooting. The Democrat was joined by other mid-Michigan leaders such as Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth and Flint Mayor Dayne Walling at Lansing's City Hall as they urged Congressional action. Bernero wants a ban on assault weapons along with high-capacity ammunition magazines and also wants to require criminal background checks on all gun sales.
