DETROIT (WKZO) -- New statistics show that out-of-towners accounted for over 15-percent of homicides in Detroit last year.
According to statistics released Friday by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, nearly 16-percent of people killed in the city were visitors. Officials say of the 413 homicide victims in Detroit in 2012, 66 of them lived outside the city.
Data shows that 2012 saw the highest murder rate in Detroit since the late 1980s.
