Fans who pick up Queens of the Stone Age 's sixth studio album can expect a rather unique listening experience. The band recently sent a handwritten note to U.K. rock magazine Mojo , declaring that their upcoming release will sound like the listener is “running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret." In addition, the letter states that the album’s recording sessions have been “manic and unpredictable” and that the new tracks will focus on “what we are going through in real time.”
Queens of the Stone Age have said that they plan to release the new album in the first half of 2013. It will feature guest appearances by Foo Fighters frontman/former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl , Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails , Scissor Sisters vocalist Jake Shears , and former QOTSA bassist Nick Oliveri .
