MARSHALL TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Three people from eastern Michigan died when their SUV went off eastbound I-94 in Marshall Township and struck a tree.
The impact was so violent that it ripped the black Ford Explorer apart. Most of the wreckage ended up on G Drive North, which runs parallel to the interstate.
It happened at around 3:30 Monday afternoon. Witnesses aren’t sure why the SUV with five on board left the roadway.
Weather was not an issue and no other vehicle struck the SUV.
Two men and a woman were dead at the scene. Two other passengers were rushed to emergency with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
No names have been released pending the notification of relatives.
