FLINT (WKZO) -- A nurse is suing a Flint hospital after the father of an infant requested that no African-American nurses care for his baby. Tonya Battle filed the lawsuit last month against Hurley Medical Center.
The 49-year-old nurse was working in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital at the time of the incident. The hospital is not commenting on the pending litigation.
In Detroit, members of the local chapter of Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network are demanding the lawsuit be settled. They also want public funds withheld from the medical facility and demand to know if those who granted the father's request were disciplined.
