DEARBORN (WKZO) -- Ford Motor Company will be expanding production of their "Eco-Boost" line of engines this year.
The automaker is pouring millions of dollars into a pair of factories in northeast Ohio to help with demand for the two-liter engine that has become a popular option for consumers. The motors combine the technologies of turbo-charging, direct fuel injection and camshaft timing to produce better performance without sacrificing fuel economy.
The Eco-Boost option on vehicles costs as much as one-thousand dollars and since their inception Ford has sold over 530,000 cars and trucks with an Eco-Boost power plant.
