DAYTONA (WKZO) -- The latest performance vehicle from General Motors has been unveiled at the Daytona International Speedway. The Chevrolet SS is a rear-wheel drive car that will be featured in the NASCAR circuit this year, serving as a pace car at Daytona, before it arrives in showrooms later this year.
GM North America President Mark Reuss say the car will "fill a void" that has been missing in Chevy's lineup.
Described by some auto analysts as a four-door Corvette, the automaker is not expecting the four-door performance sedan to sell in large numbers but will offer an alternative for buyers. It will be assembled in Australia and imported to the U.S.
Pricing and fuel economy are expected to be announced later this year.
