No charges for Detroit coach in fatal shooting

DETROIT (WKZO) -- A basketball coach who admits to shooting and killing a 16-year-old in Detroit will not be charged.  70-year-old Ernest Robinson, who is a reserve Detroit police officer, was reportedly accosted by two teens Friday evening February 1st in the parking lot of Martin Luther King High School.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutors office, one teen tugged on Robinson while another pointed a gun at two girls. It was then, according to reports, that Robinson opened fire, killing 16-year-old Michael Scott and injuring the other teen.  The prosecutor's office says this is a textbook example of lawful self-defense.

The 15-year-old suspect is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center and faces numerous charges.
