The funnywoman's rabbi sibling Susan and her teenage daughter were detained by police at the city's famous Western Wall on Monday (11Feb13) for wearing religious outfits which are usually reserved for men in Orthodox Judaism.
The pair was taking part in a demonstration at the holy site, and Silverman reached out to Susan via Twitter.com to lend her backing.
She writes, ""So proud of my amazing sister & niece... for their balls out civil disobedience. Ur (you are) the t**s! Women of the wall.""
More than 300 people took part in the protest, and 10 were arrested.
