Governor Rick Snyder’s proposal to raise the state sales tax is facing stiff opposition from the Michigan Retailers association. The group says Michigan Retailers are telling lawmakers that hiking the sales tax from 6 to 8 percent to repair the roads will destroy local stores already facing intense competition from online retailers who collect no sales tax.
