DETROIT (WKZO) -- Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is considering candidates to become an emergency financial manager for Detroit, as the financial review team completes its work.
The governor insisted Monday that no decision has been reached about the necessity of an EFM, but did acknowledge speaking to people with potential interest in the job. Snyder says he first wants to hear from the financial review team about the city's long term obligations because he believes that is vital to the city's financial health.
Chief Financial Officer Jack Martin and Program Director Kriss Andrews told the financial advisory board this week that Detroit is poised to finish the fiscal year with a surplus, because of furloughs recently initiated.
