Five Finger Death Punch has amassed a large number of fans over the years, which is something that is a source of pride for the group. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory says one of the reasons for the group’s success is that they sing about topics that their fans can relate to.
“Some bands sing about Viking warriors and dragons and all that, which also is fine, but it’s never going to connect with the audience, because it’s irrelevant to them…to most people,” he tells Australia’s Loud magazine. “So when your lyrics also connect, it’s everyday stuff; the things that piss you off, the things that make you happy, the things that you struggle with, and that will definitely strike a chord with a lot of people.”
Bathory also cites the band's close involvement with to their fans as another factor that helped grow their audience. “We toured a lot, and we have a very close relationship with the fans, because we handle our own social media, we answer e-mails,” he explains. “We all run our own profiles and talk to people. It’s a down-to-earth band.”
